Spindlegate is a prominent 5.9 acre site located on Leeds Road in Huddersfield, near to the Galpharm Stadium and less than 10 minutes from the M62. A former chemical works, the site was purchased by GMI Property Company as a prime site for reclamation and development. There are also plans to retain the listed Victorian Gothic Chapel as part of this extensive regeneration project.

Following demolition and clearing of the existing buildings, the site has outline planning permission for mixed-use development, with a 62-bed Travelodge Hotel and drive-through Costa Coffee outlet currently under construction and due to open in mid November 2011.

National chain Marston's PLC became the first occupant of the site when it opened a family pub and restaurant, The Yorkshire Rose, in October 2010.
